Since childhood, Gustavo wanted to do nothing but paint. At the age of 24 he had his first exhibition in Palma, soon followed by the first exhibition overseas which took place in Antwerp whilst he lived in Belgium (1964 -1968).
During this time he finds his own artistic style. Starting off with casein paint, he soon changes to oil paint. Artworks created with the spatula such as expressionistic interiors or cubistic gardens now make space for abstract criticism against the Franco regime. The link between those two topics is the powerful vitality of his colours.
